CHILD CARE: The classroom beside the Masset Lectures is available to be used for child care, but it is up to parents to arrange for whatever supervision is appropriate. There is a TV and DVD player in the room.
This Masset Lecture will include a movie. The directors Karen and Ralf Meyer of Greenfire Productions will be showing the Haida Gwaii version of their newest film “Great Bear Sea”, and afterwards they will lead a discussion about it.
Marlene Liddle: Cedar Bark – when, where, why and how.
The second speaker is still to be determined.
The Masset Lectures are an ongoing lecture series where community members volunteer to present a lecture on a topic of their expertise, or on a topic that they wish to learn more about. This is an opportunity to learn from each other, and to support each other in our own learning.
Anything relevant to life on Haida Gwaii, including natural history, human history, culture, local foods, outdoor activities, and practical skills.
Each session includes two different lectures by two different people, with a short break for refreshments between. Each lecture ideally includes a 10 to 30 minute presentation, a discussion period, and a hands-on activity that supplements the lecture. However, the exact format of each lecture is flexible to meet the needs of the topic and of the presenter.
